About 100 models wearing flesh-tone undergarments stood in the sun on Roosevelt Island today for Yeezy Season 4 fashion show.
The temperatures skyrocketed into the 90s when the first model passed out followed by a second model minutes later. Other models helped them as they fell. No one in the audience got up to assist them. Twenty minutes into the presentation, about 30 models sat down in the grass.
The show started about an hour late, with West keeping fashion editors and industry executives waiting in the heat. Editors from The New York Times, Harper’s Bazaar and New York Magazine were pushed, shoved and yelled at by security while trying to enter the show, reports WWD.
While celebrities like Russell Westbrook, Lala Anthony and Jonathan Cheban – had no problem with the line – their cars drove up in a neat little row to the front gate and let them right in – Vogue editors received the same royal treatment.
Kanye turned the wait time into a commercial opportunity though— he was selling T-shirts for $75, and there were plenty of takers.
Looking forward to see if some the neglected fashion editors will be able to give any kind of positive review of Kanye’s spring collection.
The record temperature and high humidity didn’t stop the famous reality stars, who came to support Kanye, to snap selfies for their social media accounts.
Kanye tweeted a casting announcement for the show on Sept. 3, just four days before the presentation. The guidelines were specific: “multiracial women only,” no makeup and “come as you are.”
Kylie Jenner later on that day.
