The 34-year-old royal attended the popular racing event today with her husband Prince William, following the Queen and Prince Harry’s appearance on the opening day yesterday.
The races are attended by 300,00 people every year and Catherine joined them to watch the world’s finest racehorses compete for more than £6.58milllion in prize money. Queen Elizabeth is a keen supporter of Ascot and watched her horse, Estimate, triumph in the Gold Cup in 2013.
Meanwhile, the Duchess of Cambridge is a keen sportswoman herself, and has praised sport for giving “mental strength it gives us all”.
Speaking at SportsAid 40th Anniversary dinner, she said: “Some of you may know that I love sport. I love cheering on teams and athletes that I am passionate about. I love the physical challenge sport presents and the mental strength it gives us all. And I love the way it so often brings people together to work as part of a team.”
This Dolce & Gabbana midi is a much more recent recycle as she was spotted in it only a month ago at one of the Queen’s 90th birthday celebrations. The Italian label is renowned for its luxurious lace creations and this full skirted dress, with its demure high neck and long sleeves, is the perfectly pretty choice for a day at the races. Lace is a perennial trend and can always be relied upon for smart events.
The Duchess – who has Princess Charlotte, 13 months, and Prince George, two, with the Duke of Cambridge – is looking forward to watching another sporting event, the Olympic Games in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil later this summer.
She added: “With little over 50 days to go until the Games begin in Rio, the next Olympiad is almost here. As we did in London in 2012, we will see a new generation of sporting stars emerge into the spotlight.”
