Princess Charlotte and her brother Prince George had their first public play date together in the Government House in Victoria today. The residence was transformed into a children’s paradise, which included a petting zoo and miniature ponies during the first official trip where all four of the family have been on together.
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were said to be happy that the event had been staged for them and pleased their son and daughter had the opportunity to play with others.
This is one very rare event where George and Charlotte are displayed in the public eye though. William and Kate are determined their children grow up in private.
For the much anticipated play date today the mother of two looked angelic in Chloé’s $460 pointelle-knit cotton-blend dress.
All eyes were on Charlotte as she ran around, chatted and played with the toys and animals and many believe these skills show she is head and shoulders above her peers.
Most toddlers are still learning to walk at her age and are quite wobbly but Charlotte looked very sturdy on her feet and even broke into a little run at one point. She is also speaking well, which is rare for a 16-month-old.
Children’s entertainer Paul Kilshaw, 53 said: “Charlotte asked for a flower, I think she said ‘flower’ because the other little girls were asking for flowers.” She was also heard saying “pop” – about a balloon – and calling William “dada”.
