People magazine confirms that the couple have split for good – the source says: “They have not been together for a few weeks but they remain friends.”

The singer decided to break it off after he refused to attend a charity event with her in The Hamptons on Saturday night. TMZ reports that the pop star had told her beau that the benefit was important to her, but instead he headed off to watch the Conor McGregor/Nate Diaz fight in Las Vegas.

The source added: “It wasn’t anything dramatic and they were on good terms – it just came to a natural end,” the source adds. “They will remain friends and they see each other, but they are not together. It was very amiable.”

The pair has been on and off again since 2011 they started dating.

”She’s sweet, funny, nice, easygoing and gracious,” Smart have said of Lopez in March. “You can’t ask for anything more. She’s beautiful.”

While they have been on-again and off-again in the past, they have mostly kept their romance out of the spotlight.

“We don’t really go out very much,” he explained. “We both don’t drink, we don’t do any drugs, smoking, pills or any of the craziness. We don’t get wrapped up in the Hollywood life that can chew you up and spit you out. I’ve seen it happen a million times.”

J-Lo, who was previously married to Marc Anthony, with whom she has eight-year-old twins, first got together with her backup dancer beau in 2011 when he was part of her tour.

Jennifer balanced the relationship between Smart and Anthony by putting her kids’ interests first.

“My relationship with them – our references are always in reference to the kids. What’s best for them, what’s good for them, let’s talk this way in front of them… Once they’re happy, they just add happiness and joy into the home and then everything else kind of goes from there.”

She also added she tries relationships not to have a big affect on her happiness: “Someone can add to your happiness but that’s not what’s gonna make you happy,” she shared. “I had to get happy on my own. It’s been a learning curve.”
