Alice + Olivia Spring 2015 RTW

Inspired by a trip she took to the Palace of Versailles with her mother and daughter, Stacey Bendet’s spring collection was fit for “a modern-day court,” as she put it. Bendet did what she does best — party dresses and flirty, feminine separates — and this season, the looks were heavy on sparkle and beading with some Seventies influence, like handkerchief hems, halter necklines and bell-bottoms.

Bendet also asked her friend, the artist Lola Schnabel, to create a colorful painting that she printed onto a folded silk blouse and skirt.

The presentation was set up in a series of Versailles-style vignettes — the garden, the court and even a tea party, with one model dressed in a Marie Antoinette ballgown and exaggerated 18th-century hairdo.

It was a lot of ideas at once, but taken apart, the pieces were highly wearable for Bendet’s unabashedly girly customer.
