Stella McCartney / Resort 2012
0On occasions when you were able to spot the models among the guests, the collection suggested an unpretentious mix-and-match philosophy, which is sure to speak to potential vacationgoers. Feel like throwing a striped primary-colored cape over a pair of Hawaiian-print boxers? Sure! Thinking of layering a mélange-striped organic knit over an embroidered palm-tree shirtdress and tapered khaki pant? Go ahead! Indeed, here it felt as though whichever few pieces you pulled out of your suitcase first could work to create a summer-ready look. That’s not to say McCartney’s trademark clean-cut tailoring wasn’t in place. Oversize blazers, Peter Pan collar shirts, and tapered pants brought a familiar structure to the collection, but in lemon, cobalt, and caramel, they offered a similar playful ease.
“All this color and print is about exciting and reenergizing people,” McCartney continued, “and it’s nice for everyone to see that you can actually enjoy and live in these clothes.”
