TOM & RITA, 24 YEARS
With 24 years of wedded bliss to his name, what does Hanks, 56, consider the key to a successful union? “My secret to a happy marriage is just being married to the right woman,” the two-time Oscar winner told PEOPLE about Wilson, 55, and their two-decade marriage, which has produced two sons, Chet, 21, and Truman, 17. Years after meeting on the set of Bosom Buddies in 1981, Hanks still counts his blessings when it comes to finding long-lasting love in Hollywood. “I’m the luckiest man alive,” he added.
CATHERINE & MICHAEL, 12 YEARS
Though Zeta-Jones, 43, and Douglas, 68, share a 25-year age gap, it was their mutual passion for films that brought them together when they met at the 1998 Deauville Film Festival in France. Having endured some recent health scares together has only made their love stronger. “They’re everything to each other,” family friend Barry Landau told PEOPLE in 2011 of the couple, who are parents to two children. “They’re soulmates, they’re lovers, they’re in awe of each other. They complete each other. I know it sounds corny, but they do.”
DENZEL & PAULETTE, 29 YEARS
When Washington, 57, landed his first professional acting gig (in the 1977 TV drama Wilma), he had no idea that the job benefits included meeting his bride-to-be Pearson, 62. Now, 29 years and four children later, the Oscar-winning actor reveals to PEOPLE his secret to wedded bliss: “Do what your wife tells you and keep your mouth shut.”
MELANIE & ANTONIO, 16 YEARS
Married life hasn’t been the easiest for the actor, 52, and his wife, 55, who tied the knot in London in 1996 and have three children. But love and faith in one another have served as a constant crutch during their most difficult times. “We believed, very much, in each other and we’ve been battling with everything that happens in our lives because at the end we knew there was a reward,” Banderas told PEOPLE in 2010. “And the reward in my case was her.”
HUGH & DEBORRA, 16 YEARS
How does PEOPLE’s 2008 Sexiest Man Alive, 43, keep the spark alive with wife Deborra, 56, after 16 years of marriage? Going to the movies and skinny-dipping, of course. For the couple – who has two children together – “the romance is always hot and alive,” Jackman told PEOPLE.
WARREN & ANNETTE, 20 years
When Beatty cast Bening in 1991′s Bugsy, the actor, now 75, knew his days as Hollywood’s most eligible bachelor were numbered. “We just fell in love,” Bening, 54, says of their courtship. “I knew something significant was happening.” Now, the former playboy’s social life revolves around his wife and their four kids. “He’s a fantastic dad,” says Bening. “He’s just enthralled, very thoughtful, very communicative.”
TIM AND FAITH, 16 years
The couple that tours together, stays together. So it seems for McGraw and Hill, both 45, who hooked up during 1996′s Spontaneous Combustion tour. Sixteen years later, the country superstars, now with their three daughters in tow, are still hitting the road. “I can’t imagine it getting any better,” McGraw says. “Aside from being able to do something I love for a living, I’ve got the best wife in the world.”
GWEN & GAVIN, 10 years
With two adorable boys, rockin’ careers and good looks to boot, Rossdale, 46, and Stefani, 43, are arguably Hollywood’s hippest domestic duo. The No Doubt singer, who celebrated her nuptials with three ceremonies in 2002, recently told Marie Claire, “[Marriage] is something that I always wanted to do successfully. It was a dream of mine. I like the official-ness and the family-ness of it all, having the same name and making decisions together.”
WILL & JADA, 15 YEARS
When it comes to dealing with divorce rumors, Pinkett Smith, 41, has grown accustomed to the nonstop speculation. “It seems like that happens at least once a year, or at least once every two years,” the actress told Essence about the media’s fascination surrounding her 15-year marriage to Smith, 44. Regardless of the rumor mill, she remains dedicated to her main man and raising their two children, son Jaden, 14, and daughter Willow, 11. “That’s my boo,” she said. “It’s like he’s another part of me.”
JENNIFER & BEN, 7 YEARS
Married in June 2005, Affleck and Garner, both 40, have basked in years of domesticity with their daughters, Violet, 6, and Seraphina, 3, and their latest addition to the family, son Samuel, 6 months. “We both know we couldn’t do what we do without each other,” the actress told InStyle of their partnership.
DAVID & VICTORIA, 13 YEARS
They’re as close to British royalty as you get without a crown, but friends of David and Victoria Beckham swear the twosome – who rounded out their trio of boys with a baby girl in 2011 – are just a regular old married couple. Says David Furnish, a good friend of David, 37, and Victoria, 38: “They go together to pick up their groceries. David takes [their son] Brooklyn to McDonald’s. They cherish their everyday freedom.”
KEVIN & KYRA, 24 YEARS
“Someone was watching over me when I picked Kevin, because I couldn’t have been that smart,” Sedgwick, 47, has said of meeting Bacon, 54, in her early 20s. The pair married in 1988, raised two children, son Travis, 23, and daughter Sosie, 20, and achieved a Hollywood rarity: going the distance with a two decades-plus marriage.
JUDD & LESLIE, 15 years
Since meeting on the set of the Apatow-produced 1996 comedy The Cable Guy and marrying one year later, it’s been an on-and-off-screen collaboration for the writer-director, 44, and his wife, 40. The couple – who are parents to daughters Maude, 14, and Iris, 10 – has teamed up for a slew of projects, including Knocked Up, Funny People and the upcoming film, This Is 40. “We probably get along better than other people who work together,” Apatow told Vanity Fair. “Usually we only have one bad day a movie. And on that day I’m just very quiet.”
MATTHEW & SJP, 15 years
Years before immortalizing single girlhood, Parker, 47, married Broderick, 50, in 1997 in a simple black dress. “We’ve been together for 20 years and you have good days, you have decent days, and you have bad days. That’s a marriage,” the actress has said of her their union, which has produced three children (son James Wilkie, 9, and 3-year-old twins Loretta and Tabitha).
KELLY & MARK, 16 YEARS
When Consuelos, 41, joined the cast of All My Children in 1995 to play the on-screen lover of Ripa, 42, their connection was so undeniable, it led them to elope in Las Vegas a year later. And after 16 years of wedded bliss and three children together, their bond remains steadfast. “I think about my husband in the middle of the day because I love him and I can’t wait to see him,” Ripa told Good Housekeeping in 2010. “He is my best friend. Nobody knows me the way he knows me. We’ve seen each other in an Avatar, ‘I see you’ way.”
