From goth to glam: so goes the story of Angelina Jolie’s style transformation. When the estranged daughter of actor John Voight came to our attention as the tomboyish, tech-savvy “Acid Burn” in Hackers in 1995, it was her androgynous style and super pout that captured our imagination.

Jolie’s dark personal life – she married Johnny Lee Miller in 1996 wearing leather jeans and a T-shirt with his name written in blood on it – was echoed on the red carpet, with her early premiere outfits having distinct Morticia Addams influences. This gothic tendency was increased when she famously took to wearing a vial of Billy Bob Thornton’s blood around her neck after the pair were married in May 2000.
