Review: Clarins Odyssey Festive Make Up Collection
0Eye Quartet Mineral Palette – ($42.00) is a new release from the French brand and comprises one palette from the new 6-piece eye collection for Autumn/Winter. The packaging includes a face chart displaying some useful positioning tips for makeup newbies.
The shade is called Rosewood and as you can see it is a gorgeous collection of wearable nude, beige and pink tones. I have been wearing the palette in Graphite’s lately which has a really pretty soft silver shade and I can vouch for the great texture of these shadows..not too strong, not too light, just right for day and then you can add some of the darker shades to smoke it up for night.
The Four mineral shades that can be used wet or dry. Two satin shades, a darker eye shadow liner and an iridescent highlighter. The highlighter is very sheer and provides a sophisticated sparkle rather than any real colour.
Swatched dry without base or primer. Around two/three swipes each.
The Rosewood palette contains four very wearable, neutral shades that would suit most skin-tones. It’s a sheer but buildable palette – something that I’ve come to expect from Clarins. If you want immediate, intense pigmentation – you’re looking in the wrong place. If you want something that you can wear to work without fear of overcooking it, this could be just what you need.
Collector Face Palette – ($42.00)
I’m not usually one to wear face beauty powders but this looked so good I couldn’t resist. The packaging is fabulous, with both the compact case and the powder engraved with the original Odyssey emblem of Ancient Greece. The powder itself is a very soft nude peach colour and the emblem design on the powder is highlighted by a shimmery gold top layer to make it stand out. It looked so pretty I didn’t want to get my brush to it but alas one must go forth and apply!
The powder was very lightweight which made application easy. It gave good coverage and spread evenly over the face meaning I didn’t have to use much product at all. There is a very subtle hint of shimmer to the powder which gives a lovely lift to the skin too. The powder claims to be adapted to all skin tones. The soft gold top layer disappears once used, but the powder also contains shimmer particles so this doesn’t really matter too much.
